Engineering teams around the globe are growing, but for teams to expand, new, high-quality talent is required. And with more positions on the market than engineers to fill them, acquiring talent is becoming increasingly difficult. As an engineering leader on a growing team, it’s likely that you’ll spend the majority of your time recruiting. How can you ensure you're filling your open roles? That you are retaining the talent you worked so hard to recruit? That you are setting them up to thrive?

In this all-day workshop, we'll cover approaches for casting a wider net during the hiring process, ensuring you have an effective, inclusive interview process, and fostering a strong sense of employee engagement.

We'll focus on...

  • Attracting, interviewing, and hiring candidates a tight labor market
  • Specific considerations for hiring members of underrepresented groups
  • Onboarding to set new hires up for success
  • Giving effective, equitable feedback that inspires career growth
  • Amplifying and advocating for teammates and reports in meetings
  • Understanding how to be a better ally to employees from underrepresented groups
  • AMA on specific issues that attendees have faced

Attendees will also receive a copy of Karen’s latest book, The Better Allies™ Approach to Hiring.

Format of the course

Bring a laptop, tablet or phone. You’ll use it to review your organization’s career site, job descriptions, and more, as part of exercises to identify improvements to attract more candidates.
